Overview
This was our first visit to Plymouth to try Escapism where we were greeted by our host Mikayla. The first impressions of the waiting area is very minimalistic without anywhere to really sit down apart from a window bench going down the length of the building. There was a refreshment area and a big cabinet selling a lot of home escape games. Mikayla ran through the type of padlocks that are to be found in the room, which is always a nice refresher into the usage of the many different padlocks found in escape rooms. The owner Lauren was in the reception area and made us feel welcome with a good chat about our ‘successes’ in previous games. Mikayla then took us to our room, Legacy.
As soon as you walk into the room, you can see how much effort has been put into it. The atmosphere is surprisingly light in a graveyard themed room but none the less, it was decorated really well and you soon immerse yourself into the theme of the room and with it being relatively new, nothing was out of place and everything looked really smart and authentic. There was a nice bit of background music and noises throughout the game, which is a nice change to the boring silence that you get in some rooms. All in all, a really well thought through room and one we really enjoyed.
The puzzles in the game varied in level of difficulty but as you would expect from the briefing, there were quite a few padlocks. The 4 of us managed to get stuck in quite quickly in the game. We all felt we brought something to the room in this one although one puzzle really had us stumped for quite some time and did make us ask for help. Even after the game had finished and we asked how we could have solved it without help, we still didn’t really understand it but then we aren’t the brightest. None the less, this one puzzle didn’t dampen our mood in the room and we all really enjoyed the puzzles.
Mikayla was able to type on the tv timer screen to give us a nudge and she was quite happy to leave us to it as we do work well together but when we did need the help in this one she did with speed and a bit of humour. The tv makes a raven noise if you do receive a hint to make sure you don’t miss it, which is a nice touch.
Round Up
The room set up and puzzles made this room really enjoyable for us and we all agreed that this was one of favourites to date. The game didn’t seem that difficult compared to some of the others we have done in past but it really was enjoyable. They have a really good set up and on the time of our visit there were 2 more rooms about to be released to add to the 4 already there. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and we would recommend Escapism to anyone.

This was our second room in Escapism in Plymouth after just completing Legacy an hour before hand. Our host was called Mikayla, she was the host for our first room as well. The waiting area is very minimalistic without anywhere to really sit down apart from a window bench going down the length of the building. There was a refreshment area and a big cabinet selling a lot of home escape games. Mikayla didn’t need to run through the introductions again due to just completing a room but previously she had ran through the type of padlocks that are to be found in the room, which is always a nice refresher into the usage of the many different padlocks found in escape rooms.
The room is dark when you first go in. We were given torches but not enough for all of us and even though I have personally got very good eyes in the dark, I still struggled without a torch so you may well be walking around like zombies feeling everything before you move on. However, as soon as you do move on then you will be fine. There was a good amount ion background noises to make sure the room wasn’t completely silent which is always nice. Everything is decorated to a high standard and you can quickly see that there will be a lot of padlocks to get through!!
The puzzles in the game are what we would call ‘classic’ escape room puzzles. Plenty of padlocks and a good mixture of different puzzles thrown in to mix it up nicely. With the codes that you get in this room you will up trying them in nearly every padlock although like we have mentioned, there are lot of different varied padlocks and you can narrow down your options due to this. That being said, the puzzles were enjoyable and we managed to get through them all without much encouragement. We did come stuck at one point but that was our own fault due to not looking hard enough.

Round Up
Escapism is a nice little jewel in Plymouth. We have been really impressed with the two rooms that we have now done, Legacy and Missing. We have enjoyed them so much that we are booked in to try their 2 new rooms in a couple of weeks. The staff are really friendly and the rooms are of high quality. They aren’t the most difficult rooms in the world that we have tried but they are certainly challenging enough that everyone should have a cracking time visiting here. We looking forward to coming back again and again.

Overview
This was our third room in Escapism in Plymouth after completing Legacy and The Missing a couple of weeks before. Our host was Joe and they recognised us straight away after visiting recently. The waiting area is very minimalistic but clean and tidy where there are window benches to sit and wait but we have never been waiting that long to get started. There is a refreshment area and a big cabinet selling a lot of home escape games. Joe did a very quick run through padlock instructions but didn’t need to go into too much detail as we are well accustomed to padlocks by now
You are taken into a small room where we were given our briefing into what we were about to take on. There were some nice props scattered around the room to get us into the mood of the theme of Wrecked. There was a good amount of background noises to make sure the room wasn’t completely silent which is always nice as it adds to the atmosphere when you are deep in thought. Once into the main room, it is well lit and everything is decorated to a high standard, as we have come to expect from Escapism, especially with it being a new room.
We were intrigued to see what kind of puzzles were in Wrecked as we were told by the owners before we started that this is the room they have designed themselves. We would say the majority of the puzzles in the game are ‘classic’ escape room puzzles. Plenty of padlocks and a good mixture of different puzzles thrown in to mix it up nicely. Again, as we have become accustomed to escapism, there were a large variety of padlocks so you don’t end up running around trying a code in 20 odd padlocks, you are narrowed down by the different variety, which is nice. The puzzles were enjoyable and we managed to get through them all without much encouragement, apart from one, which really did have us stuck for quite long period of time. To the point that we thought it would stop us completing the game. It was completely our fault after Joe explained it to us after we had escaped, it reaffirmed that you need to make sure you are thorough!!
Joe was able to type on the tv timer screen to give us a nudge and he was happy to leave us to it as he could see that we do tend to flow through rooms well enough, on most occasions. When we did need the help in this one he was there to point us in the right direction without giving anything away. The tv makes a room themed noise if you do receive a hint to make sure you don’t miss it, which is a nice touch. As mentioned, the one puzzle had us stuck for a big chunk of time and Joe did have to give us a big hint to solve it but I don’t think we would have escaped if he hadn’t have done this.
Round Up
Escapism has become one of our favourite venues. We have loved the different themes in all their rooms we have done so far. The staff are really friendly and the rooms are of high quality. You can tell that the owners are really enthusiastic about their product and they always stop for a chat even if they are hosting other games. The rooms seem to have a nice array of difficulty for all types of teams. Definitely give them a try!!

Overview
This was our forth room in Escapism in Plymouth after completing Wrecked an hour before. Our host for this game was Jaime and as always with all their staff, they were friendly and welcoming. The waiting area is very minimalistic but clean and tidy where there are window benches to sit and wait but we have never been waiting that long to get started. There is a refreshment area and a big cabinet selling a lot of home escape games. Jamie did a quick run through padlock instructions but didn’t need to go into too much detail as we had visited before.
You are taken into the main room where we were given our briefing by Jaime regarding our challenge with Forge. The room is well lit without it being too bright and ruining the atmosphere. The room was really well decorated and with it being a new room, everything looked sharp and clean. You easily get immersed into the room thanks to the lighting, decoration and background noises. There are a nice amount of props on the wall and the room gave us some nice surprises along the way.
We would say the majority of the puzzles in the game are padlocks, probably the most out of all of the rooms we have done so far at Escapism. Again, as we have become accustomed to at escapism, there were a large variety of padlocks so you don’t end up running around trying a code in many padlocks, you are narrowed down by the different variety, which is nice. The puzzles were enjoyable and you get the added little extra bonus of trying to complete an extra game at the end if you complete the room within the time limit, a nice game of trick or twist. You don’t have to take it on but of course we were going too!
Jaime was able to type on the tv timer screen to give us a nudge and they were happy to leave us to it as they could see that we do tend to flow through rooms well enough, on most occasions. When we did need the help in this one, Jaime was there to point us in the right direction without giving anything away. The tv makes a room themed noise if you do receive a hint to make sure you don’t miss it, which is a nice touch. We seemed to need a few nudges in this room for some reason, it didn’t quite flow for us and the added end game almost cost us!
Round Up
Escapism is a great venue and with a large selection of rooms to chose from, there really is something for everyone. Forge was probably the most challenging room we have done there and almost didn’t escape but yet again, we really did enjoy ourselves. The staff are really friendly and chatty and this all adds into the fact that their rooms are great and must visit if you are in the area. When you book another room there and then, you also get a little bit of discount which is great for returning customers
